Snow

Here's a list of things I find embarrassing:

1) Falling on ice in public.

2) The noise my car makes when I brake or turn and ....

3) Saying it's going to snow 2-4 cm and then have 11 cm hit the ground!!!

Here's what I need from Environment Canada ... just a statement we can read as a disclaimer after the weather ... something along these lines ...

"The Eagles five day forecast is taken from Environment Canada, an organization who really have no idea whats going to happen with the weather... they're really just guessing!"

I'm starting to think it's better to listen to the pig spleen forecast!

On the upside ... is there anything better than the huge snowflakes that fall super slow all day long with no wind what so ever!!?? Nope ... there really isn't.

I mean ... I'm a man ... a super manly man ... who loves lifting large amounts of weight for no apparent reason and BBQ'in steaks ... but when I saw those big snow flakes ... I just wanted to go skipping through that snow !! Of course holding hands with a smokin hot broad .... yeah ... a super hot sexy lady.

Enjoy the snow, it'll all be gone by Monday.

Millionaire ....

There's two things that need to be addressed this morning ... both negative and to do with the word millionaire. I think point form is best ....

1: Slumdog Millionaire

Is anybody surprised this was the Best Film of 2008 at this years Academy Awards? Not really ... here's the formula for the Academy, it's one question ... has anybody seen this movie? If the answer is no ... they win all the awards.

At the beginning I thought it was a good idea to watch the whole thing ... 4 hours later I hated my life!! There were 4 awards worth watching ... supporting actor and actress ... best actor or actress .... the rest was a bunch of grubby guys winning for best sound editing, or the most awesome dude with greasy hair awards.

Don't get me wrong ... I like Hugh Jackman ... I mean the guy is Wolverine ... but he was horrible as host. By far the worst I've seen in years past. But how can you expect much from him after seeing Jon Stewart, Ellen Degeneres, Billy Crystal, Steve Martin, or even Chris Rock host in previous years.

There was another bright spot .... Heath Ledger won Best Male Supporting Actor for being the craziest son of a *&%$@ I've ever witnessed in a movie!! He was the only one who really deserved his award for "The Dark Knight" ... plus ... the guy died for crying out loud ... give him an award dammit!

On a side note ... did you know Mickey Rourke used to be a big deal?

On another side note ... Jessica Biel ... What the hell?

2: 50.3 million

The 649 got to 50.3 million dollars over the weekend ... did you get your ticket? Sorry about your luck if you did because the winners were from Ontario and Quebec .... 3 from Ontario ... 1 from Quebec ... who will all get 12.5 million. Second place will get 4.5 million and then there's 20 other cash prizes that will be given out worth 224 thousand!

I hate hearing about Ontario or Quebec winning anything ... BOOOOOO!! I want someone from Western Canada to win ... I would even prefer someone from Manitoba winning .... and thats saying a lot to how much I hate Ontario and Quebec!!

It's fun to think about what you would do with that kind of money though isn't it? I don't think I would quit my job ... but I would do some travelling ... buy a mansion .... than hire a staff of writers to make our morning show the most hilarious thing in Canada .... not that it's not already.

The Premier

The Premier of Saskatchewan, Brad Wall, called in this morning after Jon and I were yappin about the 13.5 mill The Great Plains College is getting and the new roofs several of our schools will receive because of the 142 million being dispersed among 102 schools in the province! The conversation went something like this ...

Chance: " The Comp will be getting a new roof ..."
Jon: "But where will all the Seagulls hang out? There must be a Seagull Re-location fund!!"
Chance: "I guess that will be one of our hard hitting questions next time the Premier is on the show ... which by the way has been a long time!!"
Jon: "Yeah, its way over do!!"

(cue the Premier phoning in)

Premier Wall: "There will not be a Seagull relocation fund!"

It's always great to hear from the Premier of the Province! Mainly because its just cool to know he listens to the Eagle when in town, and second, it makes me feel better to know the guy running our province loves AC/DC!!

There is one bad thing about the Premier calling though. Every time he calls, I'm never sure how to address him. Do I call him Mr Wall, Premier Wall, Brad ... I don't want to sound disrespectful, but at the same time, I've always known him as Brad ... that cool guy that does politics and lives in our city! I'm sure he doesn't mind people calling him by his first name, in fact I'm certain he prefers it ... but I think from now on I'll just stick to Premier Wall!

After we got off the phone with Premier Wall, we were just talking about movies and Jon came up with this comparison ...

Jon: " You know in Independence Day when the President gets in that jet and goes to battle with the Aliens ... that's like Brad. He's just that type of guy!"

Ha Ha, I thought it was a solid comparison ... and now that I look at the picture ... they kind of look alike!!

You can listen to the whole thing on our Facebook Group .... search "The Breakfast Boys" and you'll find it!

Outdoor Hockey

I realize that most cities in Saskatchewan have outdoor rinks ... but are any as picturesque as the ones we have in Swift Current? I don't mean to be incredibly bold or anything, but I seriously think we have some of the best outdoor rink facilities you'll find in this province!! Just look at Riverdene! North Hill!! These rinks are both nestled in beautiful parts of the city, in a park, where there's tons of trees, and they all have indoor facilities to warm up or get ready in.

I've lived in a few cities that can have some pretty harsh winters .. Winnipeg .. Saskatoon ... and while living there, I did not see an outdoor rink that was as beautiful as the ones we have here. The rinks in those cities consist of a sheet of ice with junky boards, no indoor dressing rooms, crappy mesh, and no one tending to them!

I guess I just wanted to give props to Swift for our outdoor facilities .. they are top notch.

I'm talking about this because we have been hitting up the outdoor rinks like crazy lately .. and over the last week I have had some pretty good laughing sessions because of it.

The first came when Jon got hit in the face with a puck ... the event itself wasn't so funny (it was actually kind of serious there for a couple minutes) ... the funny part was the days after he got hit in the John Mellencamp. His schedule following the "puck to the face" was two Bronco games and a TV appearance calling the Saskpower Scotties for Sasktel Max! His cheek was huge!!!

The second funny moment was when Assistant Coach Tim Kehler joined us ... as we were playing a game of shinny a 20 something kid hopped on the ice with some pretty flashy skates to join in the game ... and Tim yelled out "Who's Federov playing for?" Ha Ha ... too good.

*********************

We were all up in arms this morning over a story I read in the Star Phoenix. SGI is thinking about putting a restriction on kids licenses if they get them in rural communities ... meaning they will be able to drive, just not in big cities. The only way to be granted permission to drive in the big cities would be to go get your license in those cities!! Ridiculous! Have they been in our downtown??? ... have they witnessed the handful of people a day driving the wrong way down a one way!!!???

Nine years ago when I took my drivers test ... it was in Moose jaw .. and I lost 50 + pts the first time around!! I can only imagine how many I would lose if I had to take that test in Swift with all the one ways and the highway 1 and 4 intersection!!
