With the launch of the new Swift Current Online.com, we've been givin an Eagle page that works pretty much like a blog. The posts will continue, just at this site instead. http://tiny.cc/f9i7V

Day late

This may be a day late and a buck short, but The Kings of Leon acceptance speech at the Grammys for Record of the Year was awesome.

They may have a clothing line ... but at least their still rock stars.

Breaky

I stole this picture right off of Jons blog,(you have to read this really quick to get the full effect) jonkeen.blogspot.com. Is it just me, or does this picture make Craig look like Grandpa Mactavish ... killer sweater vest.

I'm not going to lie and say I grew up watching Craig Mactavish play for the oilers ... but I did grow up watching my brothers idolize the former Oiler captain! I was to young to really appreciate the pedigree of the Oilers franchise in the late 80's early 90's ... but because my brothers cheered for the blue and orange ... I cheered for the blue and orange.

There's lots of coaches out there that scare me. I was just watching OTR yesterday and they had Mike Keenan on reminiscing about all his past coaching gigs ... that's a guy I'm not fond of, John Tortorella is another one. I feel like they throw temper tantrums for the cameras, not the players. That's why I respect Craig Mactavish, if he was throwing a temper tantrum, it was to benefit his players by either sticking up for his guys, or trying to spark a fire under their *%$#!! He never did stuff like that for the spotlight and I enjoyed his calm demeaner as the Oilers head coach. Plus, he had some fun interviews over his years in Edmonton!

When you've played with all the greats and are considered one yourself ... you gotta have some great stories for the Special Olympics/Bronco Charity Breakfast that's happening tomorrow morning at the Living Sky Casino. Call the Broncos Stable for tickets 773-1509, tickets are $25 bucks or $190 for a table and don't worry, you won't be late for work!

Mr. Cochrane

I always go into an interview pumped about how many cool questions I'm going to ask! I think to myself, "I'll ask this question which should lead to this and then I'll hit him with this and we'll have a good laugh about it and the artist will think I'm awesome at interviews!" Unfortunately, I'm not very smooth and I end up in the dressing room ... extremely nervous sounding like a 14 year old hitting puberty ... "Hello Mr. Cochrane."

The good news is .. Tom Cochrane is a super friendly guy and was very gracious to let The Eagle interview him backstage in his dressing room at the Living Sky Casino. It was just before he went on Sunday night so we talked about the power outage Saturday and what he thought of Swift Current.

Earthquake Relief Day

This is Blandine and Jerry. My fiances Auntie and Uncle adopted them about 3 years ago from a Haitian Orphanage. I don't know much about Haiti, but from what I've heard ... it's a pretty rough place. But that doesn't mean there's not a lot of great people who live there.

These two are the most adorable loving kids I have ever met and their Mom and Dad went through a terrible amount of work just to get them here so they could live a normal life. There's still a ton of children just like Blandine and Jerry over there right now dealing with the magnitude 7 earthquake that happened last week. Not only is this a chance to help out the Haitian people suffering from the Earthquake, it's also an opportunity to bring awareness worldwide to the terrible living conditions people deal with there.

We'll be pushing for donations Wednesday for "Earthquake Relief Day" but if you feel like donating now ... please go to any Innovation Credit Union Branch or the Shaunavon Credit Union and give some money to the Golden West Radios Haiti Relief Fund. All of the money will be donated to the MCC. You can also go to Swift Current Online and click the "Help Haiti" link to donate with paypal or by credit card.

Olympic Torch Relay

This was very cool to see for those of us who were at the Olympic Torch Party at Kinetic Park and didn't see the tour through town. What an awesome moment for the Torch Bearers! I'm jealous of Katie Durant, the final torch bearer who got to light the cauldron on the big stage.

But something tells me Coke, one of two MAJOR sponsors, wouldn't be very happy with the people who started a Pepsi created chant at 1:24 of the video.
